Work-Life Balance Tips

Work-Life Balance Tips

So much has been written and said about work-life balance. For employees, it is a parameter to pick their jobs, for employers, it is a pitching point for attracting employees. In short, importance of work-life balance cannot be overemphasized. There is a school of thought which says that there’s no point earning millions of dollars if you can’t holiday with your family. There’s no point saving for your child’s future if you miss out on his childhood. These are the things that make one seek a job that will give good money as well as enough time to pursue hobbies, follow passion, spend time with family, etc.

However, there are also people who have planned their lives in a certain manner- earning till 40, gardening in their farm house post-retirement, etc.  Whatever be the case, it is important to be content and happy.

For the former set of people, here are some tips to strike a fine balance between work and life.

Prioritize! You can’t eat the cake and have it too. If your organization is paying you lavishly, they expect a lavish amount of your time and effort also. So, YOU decide where do you want to draw a line between money and your time. And make it clear when seeking a job.

Be efficient at workplace. Instead of checking emails and phone repeatedly, it’s best to focus and finish work efficiently, so that you have more time on your hands or you can accomplish more in the given time.

Try to make the best of your time, by spending time with your family, learning something that you have always wanted to, reading your favorite book, etc. You may not be able to increase your free time by doing this, but you will definitely make every minute of your day well spent.

Me- time is very important! Sometimes we feel incomplete because of lack of conversation with ourselves. Try spending a few minutes everyday communicating with yourself. It unties the knots of the mind.

Socialize! Make new friends. Learn about different cultures.

These are the few tips that can make a huge difference to the way you manage your time, and achieve that perfect balance. After all, days in life do not matter; life in days is what matters!
